Location Data
Degree1 does not track your location continuously or in the background. When you choose to attach a location to a post, the App requests a one-time location snapshot from your device. That single coordinate is stored as part of the post only. You are never required to share location, and you may disable location access entirely in your device settings.

Invitation and Group Data
Degree1 is an invitation-only application. When you are invited to a group, the invitation record (including your email address and the group identifier) is stored to facilitate your onboarding. Group membership records, roles (Key or Member), and join dates are stored in association with your account.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal contact information — including your email address or phone number — with advertisers or third parties for marketing purposes. We do not “sell” or “share” (as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act) your personal information. We may use non-personally-identifiable signals, such as your approximate geographic region, to deliver or improve the relevance of in-app advertisements. We do not use third-party behavioral tracking systems.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only as follows:
Your account and content data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, which employs industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Photos and images you upload are stored in Cloudflare R2. We do not store payment card information or financial account numbers.
While we take reasonable precautions to protect your information, no security system is impenetrable. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your device secure. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BackDrop Interactive Corp shall not be liable for any unauthorized access to, or alteration, disclosure, or destruction of, your personal information resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
We retain your account data and user-generated content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App’s services. If you delete your account, we will delete your profile information and will remove your content from active group feeds within a reasonable time. Some residual data (such as system logs) may be retained for a limited period for security and legal compliance purposes. Anonymized or aggregated data that can no longer be associated with you may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.
The Degree1 App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because Degree1 is an invitation-only application, access requires an explicit invitation from an existing group administrator. If you are between the ages of 13 and 17, you must have parental or guardian consent to use the App. If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete that account promptly. California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to request deletion of your data, the right to correct inaccurate information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (though we do not sell or share your data as defined by the CCPA), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or another state with comprehensive privacy legislation may have additional rights including access, deletion, correction, and the right to appeal our response to your request. Contact us at support@degree1.com to exercise these rights.
Residents of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Illinois residents who wish to exercise rights related to data collected for compliance with state platform regulations (including Public Act 104‑0179) may contact us at support@degree1.com.
The App does not contain third-party advertising SDKs, social media login widgets, or behavioral tracking libraries. The third-party services we use — Google Firebase (including Crashlytics), Cloudflare R2, Expo, and SendGrid — are infrastructure providers, not advertising or data-brokering services. None of these providers receive your personal information for their own marketing purposes.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where material changes occur, notify you through the App or by email. The current version will always be available at degree1.com/app-privacy.html.
This Privacy Policy and any disputes arising out of or relating to it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Indiana, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts. Nothing in this section shall limit your right to file a complaint with a data protection authority in your jurisdiction if applicable law so provides.
