Private · Ad-Free · Invitation-Only

Everything your group needs, nothing it doesn’t

Degree1 is built for real-life groups — not for growing an audience. Every feature exists to help the people in your group connect more easily with each other.

What’s inside Degree1

Six core features, all designed around the same premise: what does a real-world group actually need?

🔒
Foundation
Invitation-Only Access

Every group in Degree1 is completely private. There are no public groups, no discovery feeds, and no way for someone to find or join a group unless they receive a direct invitation from the group’s administrator.

The person who creates a group becomes the Key — the sole administrator. The Key controls who receives invitations, who is accepted, and who can be removed at any time. This isn’t a setting you have to enable; it’s the only way Degree1 works.

📰
Sharing
Group Feed

The feed is a shared, chronological stream of everything your group posts — text updates, photos, and links. Members can comment and react to posts. There is no algorithm deciding what you see or don’t see; posts appear in the order they’re shared, and every member sees everything.

Posts can be pinned by the Key for group-wide announcements that stay visible at the top of the feed.

📅
Coordination
Events & RSVPs

Any member can create an event — a gathering, a game, a meeting, a milestone. Events include a title, description, date, time, and optional location. Members RSVP directly in the app, and the event creator can see a clear list of who’s in, who’s out, and who hasn’t responded yet.

Event reminders are sent automatically via push notification so nothing falls through the cracks.

💬
Messaging
Direct Messages

Members can send private, one-on-one messages to anyone else in a shared group. Direct messages are separate from the group feed — they’re between two people only, not visible to other members.

Messages support photos and images, and unread message counts appear on the Groups screen so you never miss a conversation.

Recommendations
Picks

The Picks tab is a shared, searchable library of recommendations that group members build together. Post a restaurant you love, a book everyone should read, a movie worth watching, or a local business worth supporting. Picks are organized by category so they don’t get lost in the feed.

Other members can react to Picks and add their own. It’s the group equivalent of a trusted recommendation from a friend — with a record that lasts.

🎩
Group Finance
Pass the Hat

Coordinating group contributions — for a birthday gift, a farewell present, shared event expenses, or anything else your group wants to pool toward — usually means a separate text chain and a lot of back-and-forth. Pass the Hat brings that coordination inside the app.

The Key or an authorized member sets a contribution target, members chip in their share, and everyone can see the progress. No chasing people down separately.

Built on a different set of principles

Degree1’s features are built on top of a foundation that most social apps don’t have: genuine privacy by design.

No ads. Ever.
Your group’s content is never shown to advertisers or used to target ads. We don’t have an ad business.
No public layer.
You have no public profile on Degree1. You exist only within the groups you’re invited to. No one else can find you.
No algorithm.
The feed is chronological. There is no system ranking content or deciding what you should or shouldn’t see from your own group.
No data sale.
We do not sell or share your personal information with data brokers, ad networks, or third-party marketing platforms.
